| We have a small but very good grocery store in Akumal called "Super Chomak". It's open from 7AM to 9PM seven days a week. You can get everything you need there including soft drinks, liquors, dairy products, things for breakfast and lunch, steaks, chicken, shrimp, lobster tails, pastas, produce, deli items, drug store items, etc. The Chomak now serves food from about 11:30 to 7:00 pm. Food items include pizza by the slice or whole pies, rotisserie chicken, French fries, shrimp tacos, fish tacos, hamburgers and hot dogs, onion rings. Prices are reasonable. All alcohol sales stop at 2 pm on Sundays! In Puerto Aventuras there are 3 "mini-supers" (does that even make sense?) on the marina; Cox Hana, Akumal and Richards. They aren't very flashy. They just sell the basics.

If you would rather go to a large grocery store, there is a wonderful one called "Chedraui" in Playa del Carmen which is about a 20 minute drive North of Akumal. It accepts US currency. If you pay with $US, you will receive change in pesos. Also in Playa del Carmen, right along the main road, is Sam's Club. Yes, that's right, Sam Walton's ever growing footprint has made it south of Cancun.
